Image Format Converter

Convert images between PNG, JPEG, and WebP in your browser with optional quality control and automatic EXIF removal.

Which formats can I convert between?

You can output PNG, JPEG, or WebP regardless of the source format (as long as the browser can decode the input). PNG preserves transparency; JPEG and WebP are best for photos and smaller file sizes. Input formats commonly include GIF, BMP, and HEIC on browsers that support them.

Can I convert JPG or PNG to WebP online?

Yes. Choose WebP as the target to convert JPG/JPEG or PNG to WebP in the browser—useful for lighter hero images and Lighthouse scores. Adjust the quality slider before converting; around 75–85% is a solid default for web photos. Transparency is kept when the source has an alpha channel and you stay on WebP or PNG.

Can I convert PNG to ICO (favicon)?

Yes. Choose ICO as the target. The longest side is scaled to at most 256px and the icon embeds PNG image data (supported by modern browsers as favicons). For multi-size classic ICO packs, export several PNGs from your design tool instead.

Does the tool remove EXIF metadata?

Yes. Converted files are re-encoded through the browser canvas, which strips GPS coordinates, camera model, timestamps, and other EXIF data by default. This helps when sharing images publicly or uploading to websites.

When does the quality slider apply?

The quality slider appears for JPEG and WebP targets (roughly 30–100%). PNG is lossless and ignores quality. Higher values keep finer detail; lower values shrink file size with more compression artifacts. Re-convert at a different quality if the first output is too large or too soft.

What happens to transparent backgrounds?

PNG and WebP support transparency. Converting to JPEG replaces transparent pixels with a solid background (typically white) because JPEG has no alpha channel. Keep PNG or WebP if you need transparency.

Can I convert multiple images at once?

This tool processes one image per run to keep memory predictable in the browser. For a folder of assets, convert files one at a time or use Image Compressor afterward on each output. A typical workflow: convert PNG UI shots to WebP, then batch-resize with Image Resizer if your CMS requires fixed dimensions.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser. Images never leave your device.

Is this tool free?

Yes. Free with no login, watermarks, or conversion limits.
