Alphabetize List

Free alphabetize list tool—sort lines A to Z or Z to A in your browser. Trim spaces, drop blanks, and remove duplicates. No login, private paste.

What does this alphabetize list tool do?

It sorts one item per line into A–Z or Z–A order using your browser’s locale-aware comparer. Paste names, tags, SKUs, bibliography lines, or a column copied from a spreadsheet. Sorting never uploads the list.

Is alphabetize list case sensitive?

By default, Apple and apple sort together (case-insensitive). Turn on Case sensitive when you must keep acronyms above lowercase labels. Numeric fragments such as item2 and item10 follow numeric order when possible.

Can I remove duplicate lines while I alphabetize a list?

Yes. Enable Remove duplicates after you choose A–Z or Z–A. Combined with Trim spaces and Remove empty lines, you get a clean unique list for dropdowns, checklists, and tag fields.

Can I alphabetize a list copied from Excel or Google Sheets?

Copy a single column and paste it here. Each cell becomes a line. After sorting, copy the result and paste back into the sheet. For multi-column rows, sort in the spreadsheet so columns stay aligned.

Is my list uploaded when I alphabetize it?

No. Alphabetize list runs entirely in the browser. Client names, embargoed SKUs, and classroom rosters never leave the device as file content for analytics.

Alphabetize list vs Word Counter?

Alphabetize list reorders lines. Word Counter measures length. Words to Pages estimates printed pages from a word count. Use the sibling tabs when you need count, sort, then page estimates on the same draft.

Does alphabetize list sort Chinese or accented names?

Yes. Sorting uses Intl.Collator so accented Latin letters and many CJK lines follow the runtime locale. For mixed-script lists, keep one language per block if you need a strict dictionary order.
